International Galaxy S III Gets The Second OTA Update

The Samsung Galaxy S III is the company’s latest flagship device which needs no introduction. This handset is the successor of the highly popular Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. This device was announced and launched in most of the Asian and European markets in May 2012. The Samsung Galaxy S III is already available for AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile customers in the US, while the Verizon and US Cellular subscribers will have to wait for a few days.
Last month, Samsung rolled out the first software update for its flagship handset. There wasn’t any noticeable changes, but the update brought some stability and performance improvements. Now, the manufacturer is rolling out the second software update for this device. However, this update will be available only for the international variant of Galaxy S III. If you have recently purchased this device from your favorite carrier on contract, then you are out of luck.

The Samsung Galaxy S II has the option to change the screen brightness just by holding the notification bar for a second and moving it to left to decrease or right to increase the brightness. Sadly, this option was missing in the company’s latest flagship device. After receiving complaints of auto brightness not working properly on the Galaxy S III, the company has rolled out a new update which solves this problem.
The latest update brings a new widget which lets you toggle automatic brightness. It also allows you to manually adjust the brightness using a slider. Apart from these changes, the new software update comes with extra sound icons in the device options menu for silent, vibrate and normal, improved AccuWeather widget, additional digital clock widget and so on.
The size of the update is 72.68 MB and the build number is I9300XXLFB. This update is available only via Over-The-Air (OTA). If you do not get this update on your smartphone, then just go to Home > Applications > Settings > About Device > System updates and check for the update. It might take some days for the update to be available in your region. On the other hand, carrier branded Galaxy S III will have to wait for few weeks, until the testing is done.
