Samsung 7-inch calling Tab 3
Samsung has announced the follow-up to the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 slate, the Galaxy Tab 3. The Tab 3 will take on the Nexus 7, Asus Fonepad and a slew of other 7-inch Android tablets. Samsung has preferred to go low-end on the Tab 3 rather than pack it with the best hardware out there.
As a result, the Tab 3 doesn’t look too different from the model it will replace. There’s a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 64GB in size. The tablet will also let you make voice calls.

The Tab 3 has the same 3-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera as the Tab 2. However, the Tab 3′s LCD has the same resolution as its predecessor’s 1024 x 600-pixel display, which pales in comparison to the 1280 x 800 display on the Nexus 7. A high-resolution screen could be reserved for theGalaxy Tab 8.0, which is expected to launch later this year. Surprisingly, Samsung has gone with three physical buttons for this tablet, just like the Galaxy Note 510.

Samsung failed to mention how much the new tablet will cost, but the Wi-Fi-only version of the Tab 3 will be available from next month, and a 3G model is expected in June.
Software-wise, the Tab 3 gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is disappointing. Users should be able to get plenty of time from their tablets as it comes with a 4000 mAh battery.
