Galaxy Core smartphone
Samsung’s new Galaxy Core.
Samsung is launching a new smartphone this month with lower-end features but with a dual-SIM option that lets users access two different SIM cards.
The new Galaxy Core will be available in two versions —
a single-SIM model that won’t be available until July and the dual-SIM
model that will debut this month in certain markets.
Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the Core includes
1GB of memory, 8GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot that can
handle up to a 64GB card. Outfitted with a 4.3-inch WVGA (480×800 pixel)
screen, the phone comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a
standard VGA camera on the front. Users will find Android 4.1 along with
Samsung Hub, Kies, and the usual Samsung apps.
The Core also takes advantage of certain smart features.
A Smart Stay feature dims the screen when you look away from the
phone. Smart Alert notifies you of missed calls and messages when you
pick up the phone. S Voice lets you power the Core through voice
commands. And Samsung’s Motion UI lets you trigger certain commands
through gestures and motions.
Samsung hasn’t announced where the phone will initially be available or how much it will cost.
