Samsung Galaxy S4 rooted

The US version of Samsung Galaxy S4 arrived in stores just this week, but there’s already a working root solution for the flagship.
It must be noted that the exploit detailed by XDA user djrbliss is currently for the Galaxy S4 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU. The root works on Galaxy S4s for AT&T and Sprint. The India-bound version of the S4 will have the Exynos 5 Octa SoC and that version of the phone has not yet been rooted.
On April 1, an XDA post said about a working root solution for the Exynos 5410-toting Galaxy S4. But that turned out to be an obvious April Fool’s joke.

 The Galaxy S4 rooted!
Samsung’s Galaxy flagships have generally garnered great attention for the Android development community over the year. We did hear some talk about some CyanogenMod developers deciding not to support the latest Samsung flagship, but with root being found this early, it could accelerate the development of ROMs for the Galaxy S4.
Last month, Team Hacksung, the developers behind CyanogenMod ports for the Galaxy S2, S3, Galaxy Note and Note 2, said it does not plan to buy or develop for the latest flagship. “There are two variants which will be a pain to maintain, and the bugs we have on the S3 will probably be there on S4, too, and we all know Samsung ability to release sources while staying in line with mainline. Yes Qualcomm releases sources, but Exynos sources we had were far from working on actual Galaxy products. I’m pretty sure the same will happen for this one,” the team had said in a statement.
Of course, Team Hacksung’s position does not dictate the course that CM will take for the S4, but it does mean development might be stifled. In late March, Steve Kondik, the man who founded CyanogenMod, arguably the most renowned aftermarket Android ROM, quit his position in Samsung. In his announcement to leave, he wasn’t shy about slamming the Samsung TouchWiz software experience on the Galaxy S4.
