After having unveiled a 7-inch tablet in its Galaxy Tab 3 line-up back in April, Samsung has expanded the line-up with two new tablets—an 8-inch tablet and a 10.1-inch tablet. The tablets are expected to hit store shelves this month.
The 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM, giving it the horsepower it will need to pull off multitasking. It has an 8-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 189 ppi. It comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. On the back of the tablet is a 5 megapixel camera and the front has a 1.3 megapixel shooter.

The 8-inch tablet comes in two variants in terms of memory—16GB and 32GB—and both variants have a microSD slot that supports cards with up to 64GB capacity. All of this is kept alive by a 4,450 mAh battery.
The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, which when coupled with 1GB of RAM, can pull off multitasking. Just make sure to stay away from running more than one resource-intensive app. The 10.1-inch TFT display has a resolution of 1280 x 800, which gives it a pixel density of 149 ppi.
Like the 8-inch version, the 10.1-inch tablet too comes in two variants—16GB and 32GB—and both variants have a microSD slot that supports cards up to 64GB. The 10.1-inch tablet is kept alive by a 6,800 mAh battery.

For connectivity, both tablets can use Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0. The 3G versions of the tablets can, as the name implies, connect to a 3G service through the SIM card slot. Depending on your country, the tablet is also capable of accessing LTE networks. Wired connectivity is possible through a USB 2.0 port. The tablet also has GPS with GLONASS support.
Like almost every other Samsung product these days, both versions of the Tab 3 come with the company’s TouchWiz Nature UX, bringing with it all of Samsung’s pre-installed apps, including Samsung Hub and ChatOn. It also comes with Google’s own host of pre-installed apps, including the Play Store, Google Talk and Google Maps among others.
