Tab 7.7

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 under Verizon network would soon receive an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, although the exact date for rollout is still unknown. The carrier already provided and posted in its website all necessary information on how to update Galaxy Tab 7.7 to ICS.

When it rolled out ICS update for Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 almost a couple of weeks ago, it also posted the details in its site a few days before the actual rollout and such pattern has been going on for years. The point is, if the ICS update for Galaxy Tab 7.7 will not come tomorrow or next day, it would be sooner than later.
If you are an owner of Verizon Galaxy Tab 7.7 and one of the people waiting intently for the update, here is some information you might want to know.

Over-the-air update Of Tab 7.7

The package will pushed over the air with a size amounting to 283.1MB, which may take around 15 to 20 minutes of download depending on the speed of your internet connection. You might be able to receive a notification if update is already available for download; otherwise you need to check manually: Home => Applications => Settings => About Device => System Updates.

Unresponsiveness during update Of Tab 7.7

Your device will totally be unusable during the update process. So, don’t panic if your device becomes unresponsive because as long as you follow the standard operating procedure on how to implement the new ROM, you will be fine. Your Galaxy Tab 7.7 may be rebooted several times during the process and it’s normal and make sure you don’t interrupt it.
Here are some features you may enjoy once the update is complete:
  • You can now use Face Unlock feature, Pinch to Zoom functionality and Desktop View can be used on Internet Browser.
  • The update integrates Google Plus into your device so you can now manage your profile on your tablet.
  • The Music App will receive considerable upgrades and new menu icons have been added for your perusal.
  • Your Gallery app will be redesigned and a photo editor will be integrated. Aside from getting an improved Picture Gallery widget, you can also edit photos in it and manage your albums easier.
Basically, this is going to be a huge update and your device will definitely be getting all the features Ice Cream Sandwich can offer. However, it seems like it’s going to be the last update you’ll receive because most likely Galaxy Tab 7.7 will not be lined up for Jelly Bean update.
